What my day looks like running a $4m/year Real Estate Brand
It's not as glamorous as you think
Hope you’re having a wonderful Wednesday everyone,
Q2 financials are in, and great news. It looks like my company should push $4m in revenue this year.
This is combined revenue for all Collecting Keys companies which includes my Homebuying Company (Backyard Homebuyers), the SCALE Community, our Coldcalling/SMS company SimpliLeads, and my lending business.
Just over $3m of that will be from Backyard Homebuyers and the rest will be split amongst everything else.
My goal in the next 12 months is for each one (minus the lending business) to be its own 7 figure company, and then I can like brag about that or something I guess because honestly that wouldnt effect my life a tremendous amount but would look good on paper.
Anyways, I regularly get asked by people what exactly my day looks like or how I organize my schedule to be productive (especially since I work from home).
I think this question is half spurred by wanting to know how to optimize themselves, and half wondering why the heck I always seem to be at my house if you look at any of my instagram content (I mean lets be honest as a real estate content creator I could PROBABLY be in more houses haha).
To be honest, when you reach a current scale and hire in A players, things kinda get weird.
Theoretically I don’t HAVE to do anything. Our lead employees run most of the day to day, and I can pretty confidently rely on them to continue to crush it and get results.
At the same time, it is amazing how much time THINKING and STRATAGIZING takes when you’re steering a ship made up of over 40 team members from around the world.
It’s not like when youre a little 2-3 person business and you can have an idea and implement it that afternoon. Also, if I fuck up, it now effects ALOT of families, not just my own.
So, in case youre curious, here is what 6 out of 7 days look like for me running a $4m/year real estate brand.
6:30AM Wake Up - Walk Dog/Listen to Podcast - Get Coffee.
7:30AM Work Starts - Reviewing work completed by overseas team before I woke up/overnight.
8:00AM - Meeting with Marketing/Content Team
8:30AM - Backyard Homebuyers Team Kick Off
9:00AM - Quick Meeting with company leaders
9:30AM - 12PM - First block of MAKER TIME on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. On Tuesdays/Thursdays I have coaching calls, networking calls, sales calls in this window.
12PM - 2PM - 1 Hour workout exists in this window somewhere. Remaining time is extended MAKER time or Meeting time.
2PM - 5:30PM - Monday and Wednesday is MORE MAKER TIME focusing on key projects. Tuesday/Thursdays I do my podcasts, writing this newsletter, management meetings. Friday I leave open, sometimes I take it off sometimes I do more work.
5:30PM - 7PM - Break. Walk Dog again. Cook/Eat dinner with my wife. Maybe watch a show/go outside.
7PM-9PM - Busy Work/education. Distractions normally low so save this time for detailed tasks book keeping, watching Hormozi/educational videos, contemplating new ideas.
9PM - 10PM - Watch TV with my wife. Thats write Im a heathen who watches TV right before bed and I love it. Its one of my wife and I’s favorite bonding activities is to get way to into various streaming shows.
10PM Bed
Sundays I do a combination of Maker Time and Busywork/Education time pretty much all day unless we have a social commitment.
Saturdays I try to take off.
Things you won’t see at my current size are walking houses, talking to sellers, ordering marketing, analyzing deals. All this stuff frankly is done by the crew right now, and not gonna lie its pretty great.
The CEO role can SEEM glamorous from an outside perspective, but its no joke.
Sometimes I wish someone would just come write me an SOP so I could zone out for 8 hours and go home to play PS5 before clocking out for the night haha.
Hope that answers folks questions.
Have a great day everyone.
